Fall Registration FAQ's

 
Q:  What is the tentative schedule?
A:
  • HISD 1st day of school - Monday, August 25th
  • Registration Cutoff - Sunday, August 31st
  • Teams selected - Saturday, Sept 6th
  • Manager Calls - Sunday, Sept 7th
  • Practice Starts - Monday, Sept 8th
  • Team Schedules Available- Sept 15th
  • Games Begin - Sept 21st
  • Skills Clinic - TBA
  • Season Over - Nov 21st
   
Q:

How often will the team meet?

A: In the fall teams can have contact 2 times each week. A contact can be a game or practice. Examples; 1 game and 1 practice. 2 games, or 2 practices.
   
Q: What days of the week do teams meet?
A: In the fall, teams meet Sunday - Thursday
   
Q: Is there any type of tryout/ skills assessment?
A: No, not in fall baseball.
   
Q: Can girls play?
A: We have several girls that play baseball at WLL especially in the younger divisions. We also offer a girls softball program in the fall for players aged 5 - 12. For more information, visit Westbury ASA's homepage or email us with any questions.
   
Q: What are the Uniform/ Equipment Requirements?
A: In the fall,"The League" will provide cap and shirt. The player is required to provide pants, belt, socks, baseball cleats, glove, baseball helmet with face mask. If you need help getting equipment, your manager can contact the league to help find used gloves and bats.
   
Q: How long are the games/ practices?
A: Generally, you should expect 2 hours for games/ practices. 
   
Q: What time do games and practices start?
A: Most games/ practices will start at 6:00 - 6:30 on week nights. Sunday game/practice times would be scheduled in the afternoon. 
   
Q: My child has never played before. Will he be OK?
A: Little League promotes the idea of teaching all the kids in the neighborhood to play baseball. We strive to instill values such as loyalty, courage, and character. Our goal is to make better citizens not major league baseball players. Children of all levels of ability are welcome at Westbury Little League.
   
Q: How do I contact the league?
A: Send us an email at westbury_ll@hotmail.com. We will get back to you quickly with an answer or response, no later than 48 hours.
   
Q: What happens if I don't live in the boundaries
A: In the fall, we don't require you to live in the boundaries. This is not the case in the spring. In the spring you must play at your home league as designated by the Little League boundaries. If you have questions about your boundaries, email us with your address and we'll put you in contact with the correct district administrator to find out where you belong.
   
Q: Where are games and practices held?
A: Westbury Little League is located at 5300 Dryad. Most practices and all games will be held at Westbury Little League.
   
Q: Can I register online if my child has never played at Westbury Little League?
A: yes, we encourage everyone to register online. If you can't register online, send us an email. Someone will contact you to get you registered.
